民警询问了两名嫌疑人的体貌特征以及案发经过，并调取了金店里的监控视频。民警在监控上看到，两名嫌疑人作案时，戴着帽子、口罩和眼镜，全身上下包裹得十分严密。

经过受害人初步估算，这次被抢的黄金首饰在1500克左右，涉案价值达45万元。案发后，监利县公安局刑侦大队、汪桥派出所，迅速组织精干民警组成侦破专案组，开展案件侦查工作。

通过顺线追踪，民警在汪桥镇西干河附近发现了嫌疑人遗留的口罩、手套和刀。同时，查看监控视频的民警发现，两名嫌疑人在案发之前曾经到金店附近踩过点。

经查，矮个子嫌疑人刘某是石首市横沟市人，有故意伤害和盗窃两次前科。

通过调查，最终确定刘某在武汉市出现。8月13日晚上十点，民警在某宾馆将刘某抓获。现场发现了金项链、金手镯、金手链等赃物，大概有500克左右。

网友共赴发财路结果一起进“号子”

本来，民警以为抓获了刘某，会很快锁定另外一名嫌疑人。哪知刘某却说，他们根本不认识，两人平时只是通过网络联系。像这类重大案件，嫌疑人之间应该是相互认识，非常熟悉的，但是刘某却和另外一名嫌疑人不认识，这让民警对他们的关系十分疑惑。

办法总比困难多，民警通过刘某的通讯方式还是确定了另外一名嫌疑人的身份，即荆门人姚某。8月15日，专案民警立即赶往荆门。

在荆门警方的配合下，专案民警了解到，8月14日晚上，姚某乘坐火车去了宜昌，而这次去宜昌的目的，就是为了逃往重庆。

这时候抓捕就是民警和嫌疑人姚某之间的赛跑，只有抢先一步，才能将姚某抓获。8月15日上午十点，终于传来好消息。

监利县公安局汪桥派出所教导员刘猛说，他们了解到火车在恩施范围内，通过和当地警方沟通，在他们到达之前，已在火车站将姚某抓获。

当时，在姚某身上只搜到了两条金项链，其它的赃物去了哪里？经过民警的突审，姚某说了一个让民警意想不到的地方。

监利县公安局汪桥派出所教导员刘猛告诉记者，姚某把东西藏在他家后面的粪坑旁边。

随后，专案民警立即押解姚某赶到他位于荆门的家中，挖了十几公分后，终于找到赃物。

通过称重，刘某和姚某身上的黄金有1300多克，剩余的黄金饰品已经被他们销赃。通过审讯，他们交代，两人是在网上认识的。

两人作案之前，先在石首新厂、江陵秦市、普济、郝穴等地进行踩点，最后确定在汪桥作案。
